11 & 12 Months

Owen is now 13 months but since I had fallen behind here are the last ones!

11 Months

  • Top two teeth coming in
  • Started signing milk - although he is using the sign for milk and any drink or food
  • Has taken a single step a couple of times, but has not started walking
  • Stands and balances for a few seconds
  • Sleeps in tons of different positions and rolls around and moves a ton at night
  • Wants to communicate! Owen now definitely WANTS things and will moan/grunt/sign/fuss or cry to get it.
  • LOVES to open and close cabinets/doors/compartments on toys
  • Separation anxiety has arrived (actually I’d say it’s been starting to appear a month or two ago but is definitely here in a strong way now)
  • First overnight and time away from Owen.  We did a 3 day and 3 night trip with our friends for a baby free weekend.
  • Starting to sleep through the night completely
  • LOVES books!  He will sit by himself and completely flip through books for quite a while and we love reading together.
  • Crawling for real!  The cute army crawl is gone and he is now doing the traditional crawl up on all fours - and extremely quickly I will add!
  • Starting 3 solid meals a day on top of breastfeeding, although he is hardly nursing at all in the afternoon.
  • Likes to play with/pull out wipes and tissues
  • Waves bye-bye
  • Rediscovered blowing raspberries

First trip to the library!

Practicing balancing things

Not Owen haha but we went and played Top Golf!

Pack n Play = contained baby for a brief bit

He knows exactly what he's doing feeding Callie!

First Easter!

12 Months - 18 pounds, 28 inches tall

  • Standing and balancing better
  • Squeals and shrieks a lot!
  • Completely sleeping through the night 11-12 hours without nursing
  • We did a second weekend away from Owen for a wedding and our 7 year anniversary
  • Loves Callie and is starting to really try to play with her and pet her a lot. He also loves to drop food for Callie to feed her.
  • Nursing mainly morning, nap, and bedtime.  We still try to nurse in the afternoon but it is super brief as he just wants to play.
  • 3 solid food meals a day, sometimes snacks as well
  • Introduced whole milk after he turned 1 with lunch and dinner meals
  • Takes off his bib and likes to throw his cup, food, utensils, etc from his highchair.
  • Getting so much louder and noisier and really eager to communicate!
  • Says “Gaga” sometimes “Gada” -we think he’s trying to say Dada
  • Loves to see pictures of babies or dogs or cats
  • His hair has gotten long enough to start to curl!  Looks like he might have curly hair like his Mama.
  • First real shoes. Turns out the ones we had were way too small and we had been trying to jam his foot in there! No wonder he didn’t like the shoes.
  • Loves to blow raspberries!
  • Will empty the two bottom drawers in his nursery dresser in just a few minutes and pull all the books off his bookshelves.
  • Still loves books and now will bring one over to you to read to him and will still flip through them by himself
  • Is becoming silly! He seems to know when we are being silly and likes to be silly back to us. He will put things on top of his head, put his paci in his mouth backwards and smile, and blow raspberries.
  • Hums with Mama. This is one of my current favorite things!  He will start humming in short spurts and we will put our heads close together and I will hum with him.
  • Plays Peek a Boo with Daddy!
  • Started walking at the end of the month!! First real steps were Wednesday, May 27th.
Silly boy! He has started making a cheesy grin face for the camera!

Brushing our teeth!

What an adorable goof!

We've got a WALKER!!!
